"Autumn Tree," gouache on paper.
Taking pictures from the passenger side or stopping on the sides of the road, the subject of a lot of my paintings are found as we drive around the countryside. This picture was taken when we took the back way, as we often do, to my parents on Thanksgiving weekend. The light hit this tree and glowed a brilliant orange as we turned the bend in the road.
I'm always searching. I have an appreciation and connection of everyday beauty that we sometimes pass by without a thought. Using a limited palette I often find myself getting lost in the subject matter.
This gouache painting is on Arches, hot pressed, 140 lb Watercolour Paper, using M. Graham gouache paints and a pencil. Gouache is an opaque, matte watercolour paint which can be applied thickly like traditional paint or watered down. M. Graham gouache is made using pure honey and gum arabic, just as it was for Dürer and Boucher. It is recommended to have the painting framed under glass.
The paper is 7"x7" and the painting size is 6"x6", with a white border left around the outside. Signed in the bottom right corner.
Packaged and delivered with care in a rigid mailer with extra protection. See packaging in images.
